Food
Food does two separate jobs, from two separate slots, and the same food can sit in both:
- Auto-eat slot. In combat it's eaten whenever your health drops below the auto-eat threshold (25% to start; change it in Settings or beside the slot), healing the amount below. It can't save you from a killing blow.
- Food buff slot. Most cooked food gives a buff while it's there, for a number of inputs; then the next one is taken from your bank. Only one meal's buff works at a time (two with the Construction Pantry). Potions are separate and work alongside it.
- When food and potions give the same kind of buff, the stronger one counts, not both (gear bonuses still add on top). Skilling buffs from food and potions top out at +8% XP, +12% rare find chance and 20% double haul.
- Buff timers count inputs that actually do something, never real time.
- Plague-touched food, when auto-eaten, also cures your poison and keeps putrid monsters from poisoning you for a while.
