Thieving
“Pick pockets and rob market stalls and chests for coins and goods. Fumble a steal and you're stunned for a moment. The better you get, the better your odds.”
Every skill uses the same XP table: 951,207,314 XP for level 99. Past 99 the XP keeps counting.
How it works
Pick a target: a person to pickpocket, a market stall or a chest. Every input is one steal. A steal that works gives XP, usually a handful of coins, and a roll on the target's loot list. A steal that fails means you're caught: you freeze for 3 seconds of real time and your streak resets.
At a target's own level you succeed about 80% of the time (a little less on the harder ones). Every level above it closes the gap, and 10 levels past it you never get caught.
success = start + (1 − start) × (levels above the target / 10) (start = 0.8 − difficulty)Each success in a row adds 1% to the chance your coins come out doubled, up to 15%. Only the coins double, never the loot. Gloves of Silence add 5 points to your success chance. The Agility perk Light Feet shortens the freeze, down to 1.2 seconds.

Shadow Veil
From Magic 47, turn on "Keep Shadow Veil up" in the target picker and the spell casts itself on a pickpocket attempt whenever it has lapsed (at most once every 60 steal attempts), for 5
Earth Rune, 5
Fire Rune, 5
Cosmic Rune and 1,000 Magic XP a cast. It lasts 1.2 steal attempts per Magic level. While it's up, getting caught by a person has a 15% chance to slip the stun (the steal still fails). Stalls and chests aren't covered.
Pet
Magpie is rolled on every successful steal, at 1 in (30,000,000 − 25 × your level): 1/29,997,525 even at level 99, so it's normal to get there without one. Rare find bonuses raise the odds a little.
Every number on this wiki is read from RuneClick 3.3.0's own game files, so it matches what the game does. It updates itself when a new version ships. Spot something off? Tell us on the Discord.
