Hunter
“Set the trap, bait the ground, and wait for the tug. Every creature out here wants catching a different way, and every one leaves you something worth carrying home.”
Every skill uses the same XP table: 951,207,314 XP for level 99. Past 99 the XP keeps counting.
How it works
Pick a creature. Every input is one try with its trap, which has to be in your bank (traps are never worn, and a better trap doesn't catch better). A catch gives you XP and the creature's yields: meat, hides, feathers, bones and so on, each rolled on its own. You never get the creature itself.
At a creature's own level about 65% of tries hold. Every level above it adds 0.6%, up to 95% (50 levels past it). It never quite reaches certain.
catch = 0.65 + 0.006 × (levels above the creature) (max 0.95)- Each catch has a 1/6,000 chance to break the trap (one copy leaves your bank). The Falconer's Glove never breaks.
- After netting a clickling, the next one takes 1 second to flutter in; tries in that moment do nothing.
- The Tracker's Potion adds 3 to your level (never past 99) for the catch roll only.

Bird houses
Bird houses work a little differently. Each kind of house is its own target: keep one in your bank, along with plain seeds for bait. Every catch uses one seed, and a house falls apart after 10 catches, so bring spares. Houses are made with Crafting and never break early.
Clickling loot bags
Clicklings carry a little bag of loot. Each catch takes that many picks from the bag's list (a fraction is the chance of one extra pick):

Baby Pufftail is rolled on every catch while you hunt Grey Pufftail, Red Pufftail or Black Pufftail, at 1 in (15,000,000 − 25 × your level): 1/14,997,525 even at level 99, so it's normal to get there without one. Rare find bonuses raise the odds a little.
Root-Hog Piglet is rolled on every catch while you hunt Root-Hog, at 1 in (11,000,000 − 25 × your level): 1/10,997,525 even at level 99, so it's normal to get there without one. Rare find bonuses raise the odds a little.
Fastest XP
The most XP per input at every level, worked out from the numbers above. Catch XP times your catch chance. Clicklings take a second to come back after each catch (tries in that second do nothing), so the faster you go, the less of this rate you keep; bird houses also need seeds and spare houses.
