Prayer
“Bury or offer bones to train Prayer. Call on your prayers in a fight to sharpen your aim, strengthen your blows and harden your guard, or to shut out an enemy's style of attack completely.”
Every skill uses the same XP table: 951,207,314 XP for level 99. Past 99 the XP keeps counting.
How it works
Out of combat, Prayer is trained by burying bones (and offering ashes and eggs). Pick what to bury; every input buries one. The bones come from monsters and a few Hunter creatures. In a fight, the same skill powers your prayers.
The Agility perk Careful Hands can save the materials of a finished recipe (up to 35% of the time).

Altars
An altar multiplies the XP of everything you bury or offer. Bought once with gold; the best one you own is always used.
| Altar | Level | Cost | XP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Burying | 1 | Free | ×1 |
| Basic Altar | 30 | 1,000,000 gold | ×2.5 |
| Consecrated Altar | 50 | 5,000,000 gold | ×3 |
| Radiant Altar | 70 | 20,000,000 gold | ×3.5 |
Not to be confused with Construction's altar builds, which add their own bonus on top.
Pyre blessings
Lighting a pyre in Firemaking leaves a pyre charge in your bank. With the "use pyre blessings when burying" option on (it starts off), your next bury or offering spends the best charge you have for extra XP:
Oak Pyre Blessing: +15%
Willow Pyre Blessing: +25%
Maple Pyre Blessing: +40%
Yew Pyre Blessing: +55%
Magic Pyre Blessing: +75%
Elder Pyre Blessing: +100%
Prayers
In a fight you can switch prayers on. Each one drains prayer points with every combat input while it's on (points = your Prayer level). Every kill refills a chunk: 8 points plus 0.06 per Prayer level (a Construction altar build raises this). Dying refills you completely. Run dry and every prayer switches off, and switching to a non-combat skill turns them off too.
Prayers that boost the same thing don't stack: turning one on turns off any other in its group, and you can only have one protection prayer at a time.
