Crafting
“Cut gems into jewelry, saw logs into planks, spin flax into bowstring, sew robes. Quiet work that touches every other trade.”
Every skill uses the same XP table: 951,207,314 XP for level 99. Past 99 the XP keeps counting.
How it works
Pick a recipe. Every key press or click moves it along by one input; when it has the inputs it needs, the materials are used up and you get the product and the XP. The materials have to stay in your bank until then. Compare recipes by XP per input: that is your XP rate, however fast you go.
The Agility perk Careful Hands can save the materials of a finished recipe (up to 35% of the time).

Cutting gems
An uncut gem could be anything until it is cut. Each cut gives one of these:
A ruby pendant you make has a 1/1,000 chance to come out as a Phoenix Pendant.
Fastest XP
The most XP per input at every level, worked out from the numbers above. XP per input only: it ignores what the materials cost and where they come from.
| Levels | Best | XP per input |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | Cut a Gem | 90 |
| 4–9 | 96 | |
| 10–24 | 100 | |
| 25–39 | 105 | |
| 40–44 | 116.6 | |
| 45–59 | 126.2 | |
| 60–79 | 174.8 | |
| 80–99 | 218.5 |
