Firemaking

“Set your logs alight for the pure craft of the flame. The ash enriches a farmer's compost, and a pyre, once you call on it, blesses the next bones you bury.”

Every skill uses the same XP table: 951,207,314 XP for level 99. Past 99 the XP keeps counting.

How it works

Pick a recipe. Every key press or click moves it along by one input; when it has the inputs it needs, the materials are used up and you get the product and the XP. The materials have to stay in your bank until then. Compare recipes by XP per input: that is your XP rate, however fast you go.

The Agility perk Careful Hands can save the materials of a finished recipe (up to 35% of the time).

Fire Spirit

Now and then a Fire Spirit rises from the flames with a gift: 1/500 per fire with oak logs, and the bigger the blaze, the more often it comes (+20% per log tier, so 1/250 with elder). Pyres count too. The gift is one of these:

Gift	Amount	Chance
Rune Essence	5–15	36.86%
Seeds	2–6	25.22%
Potato Seed	1–3	8.73%
Gloamleaf Seed	1–3	6.79%
Onion Seed	1–3	5.33%
Marrowmint Seed	1–3	3.88%
Acorn	1–2	2.91%
Uncut Gem	1–2	5.82%
Sacred Oil	1	4.36%
Onyx	1	1/1,031

Ash goes into compost for Farming; pyre charges bless your bones for Prayer. With the "burn best available" option on (it starts off), running out of your chosen log for a fire (not a pyre) burns the best lower log you have instead of stopping.

Pet

Phoenix Chick is rolled on every fire, at 1 in (30,000,000 − 25 × your level): 1/29,997,525 even at level 99, so it's normal to get there without one. Rare find bonuses raise the odds a little.

Fastest XP

The most XP per input at every level, worked out from the numbers above. XP per input only: it ignores what the materials cost and where they come from.

30–44	Maple Ash	90
